The Position of Women in the Future Movement of Kurdistan
Women; The Engine of Change and the Star of Freedom in Eastern Kurdistan
Sara Azizi
The question of women in Eastern Kurdistan is not merely a gender issue, but rather has an inseparable connection to the national and democratic question. Women in the East have demonstrated in contemporary history that they are not only part of the struggle, but are the vanguard and main dynamo of political and social changes.
The Rights of Women in Eastern Kurdistan:
Women in the East are under dual pressure; on one side, national and political oppression, and on the other, conservative laws and dominant traditions that have severely restricted their basic rights. The slogan "Woman, Life, Freedom," which emerged from the heart of the East, proves the reality that
achieving women's rights is the key and foundation for achieving all freedoms. The right to equality in work, education, political participation, and the abolition of discriminatory laws are the primary demands of Kurdish women today.
Women in the Future Movement of Kurdistan (Tasks and Rights):
The Future Movement of Kurdistan, as a political trend, has a modern and egalitarian perspective on the women's question. For this movement, the women's question is not a "side issue," but rather the "core content" of its political agenda.
• Rights:
1. Participation in Decision-Making: Women have the right to be at the highest levels of the movement's decision-making centers and to have an influential role in shaping policies.
2. Protection of Dignity: Providing a political and social environment free from any kind of violence and gender-based harassment.
3. Equality of Opportunity: Providing equal opportunities for women to develop their capabilities in all different fields.
• Tasks:
1. Raising Awareness: It is the duty of women within the movement to lead the transformation of patriarchal mentality within society.
2. Organizing: Strengthening the position of women and encouraging them to actively participate in the struggle for liberation and democracy.
3. Protecting Achievements: Striving to enshrine women's rights in the constitution and laws of the future Kurdistan.
Conclusion:
The success of the Future Movement of Kurdistan and the liberation of Eastern Kurdistan is impossible without the freedom and equality of women. Kurdish women in the East, by overcoming obstacles, have demonstrated that the future of Kurdistan will be built by their hands and on the foundation of their egalitarian ideology.
